A 15,000 sq. ft. 5 story renovation of an existing brownstone located in lower Manhattan, West Village. An NYU graduate dormitory, the existing building was the combination of (2) previous brownstones. Located in a Landmark District, we were required to retain the character of the street façade. However, the interior of the building was entirely removed, redesigned and rebuilt. The design of the project centered around opening the building open with large two-story open spaces and a main stair which floated in a 5-story stair well.
