babienko architects was asked to bring new life to this unique building which was initially constructed as a general corner store. Due to its previous use, the existing structure is situated quite literally at the corner of the property, and at the intersection of two streets, making it a non-conformance in the residential zone in which it is located and physically setting it apart from its neighbours.
babienko architects is preserving the original storefront exterior while completely renovating the interior to create a two-story single family residence with open living spaces on the main floor, including a sunken living room and a double-height core, and two rooftop decks.
