babienko was asked to renovate this 1952 West Seattle midcentury modern single-family home by undoing ‘improvements’ completed in the mid-1970s. babienko is turning the focal point of the main floor level to the west-facing panorama vista of Puget Sound by combining the living, dining, and kitchen spaces. The main entry will be extended towards the street and enhanced with a raised roof that will serve to draw daylight into the darker east side of the home. A Zen-inspired material palette will embrace the existing terrazzo floors and brighten the entire home.
